Foundations answers the fundamental questions of who the International Mission Board (IMB) is, what we do, and how our Core Values, Core Convictions, and Missiological Convictions affect how we live and work around the world. Discover how these foundational answers seek to serve Southern Baptists in reaching the nations, together, to fulfill the vision of a great multitude from every nation, tribe, people, and language knowing and worshiping our Lord Jesus Christ (Revelation 7:9).

At the IMB, we believe the biblical, theological foundations of missions and the missionary task are critical not only for missionaries but also for the churches who send and support a missionary presence. We hope Foundations will serve SBC pastors, church members, and missionaries as they are sent to be present among those who have never heard the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Excellent resource! I use this regularly in our association. Great topics to cover in understanding a healthy church (here and on the mission field), what tasks missionaries do, partnership guidelines, and more. IMB Response: We're so glad it has been helpful!

review of Foundations
Written by Rick Hedger on Sep 27th 2021

I would give this product a 10 out of 10. I use this resource often in training mission teams of local churches to do missions right the first time...especially when attempting to reach the UNPGs. I am using this process at the Missouri Baptist Convention to train our churches in reaching the nations that have come to dwell in the borders of the state of Missouri. I recommend it highly. IMB Response: Thank you, Rick, for your helpful feedback. We love to hear how our resources are being used to reach all peoples!

Excellent Resource for Missions Leaders

We used this at Missions College as we walked through the Missionary Task. I have now ordered one for each of our mission team volunteers to help them prepare to serve alongside personnel on the field.

I enjoyed reading this. I learned much more in depth about who IMB is and received helpful insight to apply to my own local church.

A Must Read (and Must Use) for Every Partnering Fellowship
Written by Andrew on Mar 16th 2019

Foundations is an essential document for the IMB as it establishes a consistent and unified approach among personnel and across affinities. Likewise, it is an essential read for every partnering fellowship as it communicates the company’s definitions and methodology as well as working toward shared language and practice. Fellowships should equip their membership with this resource as they send short-term, mid-term, and long-term.

I got a copy for my Pastor and 4 copies for my women's group. The Women's Group using the magazine to implement a Missions Oriented Lesson Plan. I'll let you know how that goes but we're pleased with the layout and the ease of understanding.
