On islands in the South Pacific, scattered between Asia and the Americas, many people identify as Christian but do not trust in Christ alone for their salvation. Syncretism is rampant, mixing Christianity with local traditions like worshiping ancestors and idols. Throughout the Asia-Pacific Rim, syncretism and tradition frequently hinder the growth of Christianity.
